The Stern Center for Language and Learning
The Stern Center evaluates and teaches more than 900 children and adults annually in all areas of learning, including reading, writing, spelling, math, oral language, study skills and social skills. Individuals come to the Stern Center with learning differences that range from mild learning style problems to those who have complex learning differences.
SEDL- Southwest Educational Development Laboratory
SEDL partners with educators, administrators, parents, and policymakers to conduct research and development projects that result in strategies and resources to improve teaching and learning. SEDL also helps partners and clients bridge the gap between research and practice with professional development, technical assistance, and information services tailored to meet their needs. These dissemination activities help our partners interpret and apply research findings based on their individual contexts and experiences.
ADI- Academic Development Institute
The Academic Development Institute (ADI) works with families, schools, and communities so that all children may become self-directed learners, avid readers, and responsible citizens, respecting themselves and those around them. ADI's vision is of an American landscape filled with distinct school communities reflecting the hopes and dreams of the people intimately attached to them.
VT NEA- Vermont- National Education Association
Vermont-NEA was founded in 1850 as the Vermont Teachers' Association. Vermont-NEA now is a state-level affiliate of the National Education Association, the largest professional association in the United States, with 3.2 million members. Educators in communities throughout Vermont are organized as local affiliates of Vermont-NEA. Educators also join subject area affiliates of Vermont-NEA, organizations dedicated to particular professional specialties.

When the school functions as a community rather than in a community, its constituents associate with one another and share common values about the education of children. Those children become our children, and parents are full partners in the education of their children and each other's children. Teachers are professionals integrated into the web of community and buoyed by common purpose.

Winooski Family Center
A safe and nurturing environment where families and children, birth to school age, can play, grow and learn together. A collaboration between the Howard Center, Winooski Housing Authority, and the Winooski School District.

Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf
Works to alleviate hunger by feeding people and cultivating opportunities. As the largest direct service emergency food provider in Vermont, CEFS serves over 11,300 people each year.

Building Blocks for Literacy
Promotes pre-literacy skills for children in child care and preschool environments. Developed in 1997 at the Stern Center for Language and Learning, the program teaches early care and education providers, as well as parents how to foster pre-literacy skills in children.

BHA's Mission is to promote, provide and preserve affordable housing in ways that encourage resident self-sufficiency and support healthy neighborhoods.

Vermont Principals' Association
Nonprofit with a mission to coordinate the collective interests and needs of school leaders and to enhance their professional growth and competency for the purpose of improving the quality of educational opportunities for the youth of Vermont. The VPA provides professional development to 450 educational leaders and supports co-curricular activities at 262 schools.
